Welcome to Carter Farms, we are a 4th generation family owned and operated sugar bush.
The property was purchased in 1905 and fortunately had a maple bush that was preserved from logging as it was close to the farm buildings. Additional bush lots were also purchased after they were logged between 1905 and 1933. As a point of interest all of our syrup production, over 35 acres, occurs on the Ardtrea Island ANSI (Area of Natural and Special Interest) as identified by the Provincial government, located just minutes North of Orillia.
We look forward to having you visit and learn about our new wood pellet fired evaporator, our first boil was in the Spring of 2018 after the sap house addition was finished. Its efficiency to provide a consistent heat and with less man power required than before with stoking the wood fire stove has been greatly welcomed during our busy boiling season. We always look forward to this time of year, as many of our relatives and friends come out to lend a hand and partake in our traditions, even if its just for the samples!
