Royalmar Farms, located in Gowanstown, Ontario, has been producing Maple syrup since 1964. It was originally started by Roy and Edith Martin. At that time there were 250 taps and the sap was collected in buckets, using horse drawn wagon/sleigh. Now in 2015, the operation has grown to approximately 2800 taps, all on pipeline. New for the 2016 syrup season is a 4’ x 15’ Force 5 evaporator, which is fueled by wood.
The Martin’s host a pancake open house every year, usually the first Saturday in April, where the community can enjoy Pancakes, sausage, ice cream, a beverage and of course Maple Syrup, all for a minimal charge. Come and see how maple syrup is produced and enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride through our sugar bush.
